Mary Anne served on a task force to craft an ordinance dealing with Mega Houses. In November 2001, Mary Anne was elected District 2 City Commissioner where she championed the effort to implement the Mega House Ordinance and continued to fight and ultimately defeat the Strong Mayor Referendum. This group brought the Traveling Vietnam Wall Memorial to Sarasota for the 30th Anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. This group put on a USO-like dance to raise monies for our local National Guard members to assist their families while they were deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.
